[00:00:00] Speaker A: Foreign.
Jump into today's.
Today's message.
If you weren't here last week, you can just go ahead and watch that on YouTube. But we started something.
A conversation is called the Way of Intimacy. And today I want to talk about building friendship with the Holy Spirit.
Some of the things we shared was that Jesus modeled the life fully yielded to the person of the Holy Spirit, that Jesus was full of the Holy Spirit, and Jesus was led by the Holy Spirit, and the life he lived on earth was yielded to the person of the Holy Spirit.
And through him, John says, as he was baptizing, he was the greatest prophet. He was preparing the way for Jesus as he was baptizing in water. He says, here he comes mightier than I, who will baptize in the Holy Spirit and fire.
And so the emphasis we want to make today is this Holy Spirit is God, and he's a person.
And we're called to live in deep, personal, intimate relationship and fellowship with the Holy Spirit. And that's. And. And that's how we live the life that Jesus lived. Amen.
And so the. The verse I want to just start from is Acts, chapter 13, verse 2.
Acts, chapter 13, verse 2. While they were ministering to the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, and this is the key. This is the theme, I believe this speaks of the priority of our life.
While they were ministering to the Lord, the Holy Spirit said, some of the activity or the leading or the hearing of the Holy Spirit happens in that place where you prioritize his prayer presence in your life, where you're spending a time not just ministering for him, but you're spending time ministering to Him.
And there's a big difference between us going to do what we believe he called us to do, and us giving ourselves to him and allowing him to do what he called us to do.
And the difference is, when we are sent by the Holy Spirit, we go in his authority.
When we are sent by the Holy Spirit, we go with his anointing.
And, you know, we're not called to live apart from the anointing of the Holy Spirit. It is required for us to fulfill what he called us to do. And so the anointing comes not just because of your gift or even calling, but because of your relationship and proximity.
Are you guys here with me?
And I remember Dr. Frank Damasio, who was a father in this region and in many ways a father to us, a spiritual father. He shared this last message, I believe, was like. It was a mantle that he left. And it was to the pastors and he said, the church has so much more, yet they have less.
In other words, the church has so much more professional counselors. The church has so much more, you know, professional worship and sound and lights and better preachers and better education and less power.
[00:03:45] Speaker B: Less healing, less breakthrough.
[00:03:47] Speaker A: How did more lead us to less?
And, and, and then if we're called.
[00:03:54] Speaker B: To more, what does life of more look like?
[00:04:00] Speaker A: And I want to propose that the life of more is in the Holy Spirit.
[00:04:06] Speaker B: That the life of more is Ephesians 3:20, that God is able to do.
[00:04:11] Speaker A: Exceedingly, abundantly, above and beyond anything we think, ask or even imagine, according to the power at work within us.
[00:04:21] Speaker B: That the life of more is actually not building for God, but building with God. Not doing things for God, but learning to do things with Him.
This is the life of more. This is where we tap into the ability of God in us to do beyond our dreams, beyond our visions, beyond what we can even fathom. Because what you're anointed for is beyond what you're capable of dreaming.
But the law of this rests in the law of priority, that you and I will first give ourselves to Him.
And we're gonna rest there.
And when he moves, we're gonna move. And you know, and if that means launched into international ministry, then we're gonna rest with him there.
You know, if that means running a seven minute mile, then that's going to be your rest.
I asked Vic at first service, he corrected me.
[00:05:22] Speaker A: He does a five something mile. Just so you guys know you can hold them to that.
[00:05:27] Speaker B: But what I mean by that is like when you minister to him, when you give yourself to him, it's going to lead you to something. He's going to launch you, he's going to send you in his own time in his own way.
And I believe that this is a year to build. We're not just here to have events. We're not just here to have services. We're not just here for experiences. We're called to build with a master builder. We're called to lay brick by brick and build something that the Lord is doing on earth as it is in heaven.
But I don't want to just build.
I want to build with Him.
Because guess what? I've seen so many people do all the things and lose relationship with Him.
I've seen people preach really well and lose the anointing.
I've seen people live in sin and hold mass crusades. It's possible to just have a relationship with your gift. And lose sensitivity and intimacy with the person.
[00:06:38] Speaker A: And so we see, you know, the.
[00:06:40] Speaker B: Holy Spirit said, set apart from me, Paul and Barnabas for the work, which I call them.
That's what's happening today. The work that God has called and it bears witness to us and the Holy Spirit.
Jack and I have been meeting and praying and talking, and this matured to this day.
If you only knew the season they had to go through and the death they had to go through and the wilderness they had to go through, and the challenges they had to go through. That's part of the plan.
Because when God says something to us.
[00:07:13] Speaker A: Especially we love dreams.
[00:07:15] Speaker B: I love dreams. It's like, oh, God, God gave me another dream.
Dreams are not the problem.
[00:07:20] Speaker A: It's the process.
[00:07:23] Speaker B: Because God don't talk about the process.
[00:07:25] Speaker A: He just gives you a dream, kind of sets you up. You're like, yes, I love that dream.
But there's something that dreams, that dream will involve. And it's a process.
And so he. He. He speaks to them and he says.
[00:07:42] Speaker B: Set apart for me, I got. I got work for them as they.
[00:07:45] Speaker A: Gave themselves to me.
[00:07:47] Speaker B: I'm sending them from my presence, from my anointing, from my breath. And they will walk and go in my authority.
[00:07:57] Speaker A: You ever. You ever hear, like, messages? And they're just information.
Like, they're good theological, but it's like, it's just information.
[00:08:08] Speaker B: You ever read the Bible and not experienced transformation?
[00:08:11] Speaker A: Yeah, because it requires the Holy Spirit.
[00:08:15] Speaker B: A lot of people know the Bible, and it brought no change to them because it's about relationship.
It's about yielding and surrendering.
[00:08:27] Speaker A: And then in verse four of that same chapter, in Acts 13, it says, and they were sent by the Holy Spirit.
[00:08:37] Speaker C: Wow.
[00:08:40] Speaker A: Teach us, Lord, to build in such a way where we don't do things without you, that even though there's a big call that was resting in the heart of Paul, he rested and given himself to ministry to the Lord until the Holy Spirit said, last service, I shared this. And I said, some of us have picked up false burdens that look like our calling.
Some of you, you're trying to prove that you're called to everybody else.
Some of you, you're working so hard.
I'm a prophet.
You're working so hard for everyone else to recognize you. And all you need is his anointing. And it's found in his presence.
Believe me, he knows how to bring you up. He gives more grace to the humble grace is the Holy Spirit.
He, when he anoints you, when he blows favor upon your life. I mean, no man will be able to get in the way.
He'll establish you with so many miracles that even the men that are in.
[00:09:56] Speaker B: Your way will get out of the way.
[00:10:01] Speaker A: And I get it. I get it. Some of it is a result of the absence of the apostolic and the prophetic in the church, because God didn't design the church to be built by pastors.
And so I get it. Some other gifts feel like orphans in the house, but I believe God is restoring something.
And I believe his Lordship looks more like the fivefold ministry than we thought.
I don't know. I. I don't know where we're going with that, but I'm gonna just leave it right there.
And David figured this out. Remember, in Psalm 69, verse 30, I will praise the name of God with a song and exalt him with thanksgiving.
And I love this. And this will please him better than sacrifices.
This will please him. This will minister to him.
Are you giving yourself to ministry for him, or are you giving yourself for ministry to him?
Have you lost the hunger, the childlikeness, the humility, the pursuit?
Have you allowed the busyness? And believe me, like, I want everyone to be involved. I want you to serve. I want you to minister. I want to activate you. I'm not saying, hey, don't do anything, But I am saying, if we do it out of the wrong priority, we can miss it.
He's building something his way.
Jesus didn't just stop with I am the truth.
You're like, okay, now I know the truth. I'm good. No, I'm also the way.
I'm the truth and the way. I'm the word and the Spirit. Yes.
Mary, Who was the mother of Jesus, was like, how.
Right. She's standing in front of the angel, and he's like, you going to have a baby without having a man? How.
Pretty logical question.
And he said, holy Spirit.
Oh, okay.
Can I propose to you? What if you surrendered the how to the Holy Spirit?
What if. What if he's going to take care of the how? You just need to know what?
You just need to say yes to what so that you can become a womb for the how. Because you were never meant to do the how. He's going to do the how.
You just. He just needs a body.
He just need a. He just need a person that will say yes to him, and then he'll put the seed of the how in them, and he'll perform it through them.
And so I see so many people running like orphans in ministry.
Wanting everyone to agree with what they believe God said to them.
[00:13:24] Speaker B: Don't make that your mission.
[00:13:27] Speaker A: And those same people, five years later.
[00:13:29] Speaker B: Get offended at God because no one.
[00:13:31] Speaker A: Else believed in them.
[00:13:34] Speaker B: Because we tried to make the secondary thing primary.
[00:13:39] Speaker A: And we miss the first thing.
[00:13:52] Speaker B: So we need.
[00:13:55] Speaker A: To grow, because Holy Spirit is a person. He's God. We need to grow in our sensitivity, in our awareness, in our connection on a personal level, not on a theological level.
And, and this is very, very important. And I, and I think many people miss this reality of intimate fellowship and relationship with God in us.
And so I'm going to share a couple thoughts about that, and we're going to pray, you know, as we're building a greater awareness. How many of you want that? You. You want. You want deeper? You want greater awareness of this person?
As we're building that, I'm going to share a couple thoughts. I'm not going to be able to get through it. I figured out in first service I'm not getting through this message, which is totally okay.
Our flesh gets in the way of our encounter.
If you think about the Pharisees, Sadducees, they had.
They were in the same room, they heard the same word, but because they weren't willing to repent, they weren't willing to adjust, their hearts were hardened and calloused, and so they were actually blinded to the truth.
Like, some of us go to church and we don't change because our hearts are hardened and we blame the church, the pastor, the message, the atmosphere, who knows what.
Not realizing that the seed is right.
But the result of that seed has more to do with where my heart is than what the sermon title is.
Flesh doesn't just stand in the way.
Flesh gives the devil influence in your life. And when I say flesh, I'm not talking about your physical, you know, the meat of your body.
I'm talking about your mind, your intentions, your conscience, your heart.
But it gives the devil influence. It gives the devil the ability to impact and influence our life.
And if you will disrupt the intimate relationship, the fellowship we experience with the person of the Holy Spirit.
Remember Peter, who was so passionate, so ambitious for God, gets influenced by the carnal thoughts and says something that's against the will of the Father for Jesus. And he says, get behind me, Satan.
Right. The same person that had revelation. Why? Because through flesh, through carnal thinking, the enemy can access our life and influence our life.
I know we don't talk about this much, so it's okay that it's quiet.
And I'm going to read Ephesians, chapter 2, verse 2, because here's what we need to know. The devil has been defeated.
The devil has been disarmed of all of his authority. He's been stripped of his authority. He's been disarmed and defeated. Do you believe that? That we're called to rule and reign with Christ? That we're called to be more than conquerors, that we're called to be victorious? That's a reality.
[00:17:38] Speaker B: But how does the devil who's defeated.
[00:17:40] Speaker A: And disarmed still function on earth?
Power.
You know, how he influences and moves on earth through the sons of disobedience.
Look at this. In Ephesians, chapter 2, verse 2, in which you previously walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power, of the air, of the Spirit. This is talking about the devil that is now working in the sons of disobedience.
And we're going to talk about this more in the coming services.
But what you do with the Scriptures matters.
What you do with his words will determine your proximity, your nearness.
And so how do we cultivate a sensitivity and a nearness to the person of the Holy Spirit to whom we're supposed to yield our whole life?
Like your mission is to know him.
[00:18:51] Speaker B: You're supposed to give your whole life to him.
You're supposed to follow Him.
[00:18:57] Speaker A: And we see this in Matthew, chapter 5, verse 8.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
Who's going to see God on Monday? The pure in heart.
Who's going to see God on Wednesday? The pure in heart.
Who's going to see heavenly solutions for earthly problems? The pure at heart.
And, and that word pure is. Is the meaning of that word. Pure is unmixed where there's no mixture.
So many of us live in this imaginary third option that doesn't exist.
It's called the middle.
I'm just in the middle of things.
There is no middle.
You either serve one Lord or you serve the other Lord.
Even if the heart, if the realm of the heart is the mind.
Right?
There is no third option. Romans 8.
[00:20:04] Speaker B: You're either at war with God or.
[00:20:06] Speaker A: You'Re thinking in alignment with God.
[00:20:08] Speaker B: There is no middle. There's no other option.
[00:20:11] Speaker A: And so he says, those who have.
[00:20:14] Speaker B: A pure heart, they will see God.
[00:20:16] Speaker A: I'm not talking about a perfect heart, like we're being sanctified by the Lord. I understand that.
But those with a pure heart. And so what is heart? It's our inner thoughts, desires. It's our Will. It's our conscience.
Is your will yielded?
Is your conscience pure? Are you walking in unforgiveness? Are you walking in offense? You don't have a pure conscience.
[00:20:40] Speaker B: Your ability to see God is blurred.
[00:20:44] Speaker A: And so the message is the same. Repent. For the kingdom of God is at.
[00:20:48] Speaker B: Hand, within your reach. But the only way you can experience it is repent.
[00:20:54] Speaker A: Yeah, it's not.
[00:20:57] Speaker B: It's not about what you feel.
[00:20:58] Speaker A: And, you know, I think what we've called that middle is self.
That you think.
[00:21:05] Speaker B: I think we think that we're in.
[00:21:08] Speaker A: Charge, that we have some cow, somehow.
[00:21:11] Speaker B: Become like the Lord of our life, the God of our life, the God.
[00:21:14] Speaker A: Of self enables flesh to live and breathe and move.
And when flesh is alive, the devil influences.
And so then we're like, exhausted with a war. We're not called to fight.
And, you know, when. When you sin, you grieve the Holy Spirit, but he doesn't leave you.
But you grieve.
And I think what the enemy has done is, if I can't. If I can't take you, if I can't. If. If your salvation is sealed and you're saved by faith through grace, if I can't take you, I'll take your assignment. I'll take your purpose, I'll take your destiny. I'll make you so busy with an imaginary war that doesn't exist that you will have nothing left for the kingdom of God.
And so, so many of us, we come to church from week to week, defeated, depleted, disgusted, barely making it. And we're coming in and we're like, give me one more drop so that I can survive tomorrow versus living victoriously, ruling and reigning with Christ.
And I'm quoting scripture. I'm not. This is not my opinion.
And, And I get it. We have wilderness seasons. We all go through them. We have seasons where we need the helper, where we need the Holy Spirit, when we need to receive ministry, where we need to humble ourselves. Like, I'm not. I'm not clowning on that. Like, we. I love the humility in this house. I love that we respond, that we're tender. We.
[00:22:59] Speaker B: Let's keep doing it.
But unto maturity, unto ruling and reigning with Christ in this life.
[00:23:14] Speaker A: And so the word heart is the inner man. It's the thoughts, desires, the will, the conscience. And he says, they will see. That's to perceive, discern, and experience.
David says, create in me a clean heart, heart, and renew a steadfast, steadfast spirit within me.
God wants us to see him.
God wants us to live from his presence.
God wants us to be anointed by him to wait for the Holy Spirit. Just like in Upper room Acts two. Wait, wait, wait, wait. And believe me in the waiting, you'll get launched to run and not grow weary.
God will send you as an answer to nations. Some of you, if you. If you learn this, if we learn this, God's going to give us nations. God will give us regions and you will walk in his authority. And the things that are impossible for people will just be easy for.
It's easy not to get offended when you're dead.
It's easy not to care what other people think about you when you're dead.
Well, by the enablement and the power of the Holy Spirit, the first thing God wants to do is kill the flesh.
Too much flesh is running around.
I know it's winter time. This might not be a timely message. We'll save it for the summer.
Sorry, guys, I didn't get through anything that I wanted to get through.
But this is. This is a cry in my heart because I. I don't want to. I don't want to just. I don't want to run the gas tank on E in cycles. I want to build with God. I believe this is an apostolic hub. We're called to build with God. We're called to see the way he sees. And the way to see what he sees is to have a pure heart.
And some of us, we've used grace to compromise, to marry our addictions and our weaknesses, rather than invite the Holy Spirit, who's the helper in our weaknesses.
God wants to purify you. And John says, here comes He.
Here comes He. He's mightier than I. I'm not even worthy to tie his, to untie his sandals. He's mightier than I. I'm nothing in light of Him.
He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit and in fire.
That fire will purify your life.
That fire will kill off and burn off the flesh off of you.
That fire will illuminate God's seed in you, God's purpose, God's destiny for you to walk as mature sons and daughters, in authority, in anointing and power, in the Holy Spirit.
I want to say this before we pray.
The outpouring of the Holy Spirit doesn't end with feelings and emotions.
I. I want us to be sensitive. I want us to feel.
But do you feel deep enough to obey it?
And I would say this.
I want to say this carefully, but I also want to say this biblically, I believe that the outpouring of the Holy Spirit has to lead to salvation, salvations of people's souls.
Because I believe that the greatest miracle, the primary mission was the new birth and the new Spirit. It's when God breathed Jesus in, the resurrected body breathed his Spirit into man, and they were born again.
I believe that the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, the leading of the Holy Spirit, has to lead to salvation.
[00:27:28] Speaker B: That's why we need the evangelist, every.
[00:27:29] Speaker A: Evangelist in the house.
[00:27:30] Speaker B: We need you, but we need you to equip every single person in the.
[00:27:36] Speaker A: Room to be evangelists.
And I think when the Holy Spirit begins to burn brighter in our community, one of the things we're going to see is we'll begin to burn for other people like we never did before.
We're going to begin to burn for souls like never before.
That fire, that anointing, is going to disturb the comfort, the Christian comfort of the church. I wait for the day when the Holy Spirit launches us out of the church that we actually realize it's not about these four walls.
We're just here to get equipped. We're just here to get refreshed, refilled, to go.
Ministry has more to do with raising the dead, casting out demons, healing the sick, preaching the gospel of the Lord and seeing people saved than it has to come in services and doing, you know, playing a guitar or playing a bass. Jesus didn't die for you to play a guitar. You could have played guitar without him.
Jesus died for you to have the Holy Spirit. Jesus died to transfer the same power that was in him into you to do something more. How many of you guys believe we're called for more, Something more, And that something more is in the Holy Spirit. Would you stand to your feet with me?
I'm gonna ask the worship team to come. I'm gonna ask the ministry team to come forward, and I'm gonna ask for everybody's help. Genesis, if you can help us, anybody else on the ministry team, even if you're not on, you're on today. Pastoral team, senior leadership team. Everybody come.
I'm going to invite us into a fresh baptism of the Holy Spirit. And it's not just, you know, some of you are like, well, I. I sha ba ba ba. So I'm good.
No, that's not what I'm talking about. But if you're here and you don't have a spiritual language and you want to receive that gift, I want you to come and say, I want to speak in tongues. I want to be baptized in the Holy Spirit and the evidence of speaking in tongues, but also for others in this room.
[00:29:43] Speaker B: You're in this room and you need.
[00:29:44] Speaker A: To be refilled because the filling, the baptism is continuous.
[00:29:51] Speaker B: And so some of us are living off of a five year dated encounter with God. It's continuous, it's continuous, it's continuous. And when you're overflowing, it's going to pressure you that anointing, that grace is gonna, is gonna burst out of you in coffee shops, in your business, in your home, with your neighbors. It's gonna be more organic and natural, like a river flowing.
[00:30:21] Speaker A: And if you're here, ministry team, go ahead and come. If, if you're here and you're like, man, I want to step into the more we're going to take a moment before I'm going to have you come and ministry team, I know you're standing here by yourselves.
[00:30:35] Speaker B: Just stretch your hands towards the people.
[00:30:36] Speaker A: It's. It's totally okay. You don't have to be awkward about it.
I want you to take a minute and just recognize the person of the Holy Spirit and just say, here I am, Lord. I. I'm returning to you.
[00:30:52] Speaker B: I'm surrendering the how.
[00:30:54] Speaker A: I've been so preoccupied with the how.
[00:30:57] Speaker B: I'm surrendering the how.
[00:30:58] Speaker A: For you to do it in me.
[00:31:00] Speaker B: For you to do it through me.
[00:31:03] Speaker A: And just begin to worship and begin to acknowledge his lordship. Let's take the next minute or two and just do that together.
Come, Holy Spirit.
Come, Holy Spirit. Come, Holy Spirit. Come, Holy Spirit.
[00:31:21] Speaker C: Thank you for joining King Movement online. I pray and hope that that sermon impacted you deeply. I would love if you shared this with a few friends and family. And before you go, don't forget to subscribe. See you next week.
