[00:00:00] Foreign. [00:00:07] Are you ready for the Word? Can we all stand for a moment so we can pray before we get into the Word? I got you working out. I know you'll be okay. [00:00:15] Can we close our eyes? Jesus, we love you. [00:00:18] Lord, we thank you that we are not alone this morning, but that heaven is with us. [00:00:23] Lord, we gather first and foremost for you. Lord, we come as children in need of bread this morning. Lord, we don't gather for somebody else. We gather for ourselves. That we need a touch. [00:00:35] Would you come and touch us or would you come and be with us? Holy Spirit, we ask that you'd reveal Jesus to us and you would open up the Scriptures to us that we might comprehend them this morning. [00:00:46] In Jesus name, Amen. [00:00:49] We're going to start in Mark, chapter six. If you have your Bibles, turn me to Mark, chapter six. [00:00:57] We're going to start in verse 45. [00:01:00] I was reading this passage a few weeks ago, and something stood out to me that I'd never seen before. So I want us to read it together. I'm going to ask a couple questions, then we're going to go on a journey. And I feel like this morning is going to be a morning of freedom. [00:01:15] I feel like the Lord wants to bring us into great levels of freedom. I was talking to Christina, who was leading worship almost last week, probably two weeks ago, and she's like, what are you feeling for service? And I'm like, whoa, that's like two weeks out. [00:01:29] Which shows a lot about our worship team, how hungry they are for the presence of God and how they're praying into what God is doing. [00:01:35] And she was like, I'm feeling freedom. And I was like, okay, I like that. [00:01:41] I like freedom. But I do feel like there's an invitation into freedom this morning. So let's start here in verse 3. 45. [00:01:50] Many of us have heard the story, but we often don't read it from Mark's perspective. Mark actually has a very different perspective to Matthew and the one that we often read. So immediately he made his disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, to Beth Saida, while he sent the multitudes away. So firstly, he's just multiplied bread and loaves, and he's done this crazy miracle, and there's thousands of people around him. They've all been fed, and he sends them all away, which I love that God can only trust you with crowds you're willing to send away. [00:02:27] Everyone wants revival, then revival kills them because they're afraid to send the crowds away. [00:02:33] Why? Because they're afraid if I send them away today, Jesus won't show up tomorrow. [00:02:38] Okay, that was for 10% of the room. But that's a word if you have ears. No, I'm kidding. Okay. [00:02:46] Verse 46. And when he had sent them away, he departed to a mountain to pray. Hey. Oh, Jesus needed a secret prayer life. [00:02:55] Dylan probably needs a prayer life. [00:02:58] Okay? [00:03:00] Dylan does not have more responsibility than Jesus. [00:03:07] Would you agree? You have less responsibility than Jesus, yet somehow he made time for a prayer life. [00:03:17] Everyone's too busy for a prayer life. But then when football season comes around, you have time for football. [00:03:23] I say that because football mad, slow and takes like 35 hours for a game. [00:03:28] So I'm like, it's crazy how you suddenly have time for the things you value. [00:03:33] Good word, Dylan. Okay. I brought my own encouragement. I'm here. [00:03:38] He went, departed to a mountain, alone to pray. I recommend that getting alone, praying. Try it out. [00:03:44] Now. When evening came and the boat was in the middle of the sea, he was alone on the land. He was alone some time alone on the land. And he saw them straining, rowing, for the wind was against them. And it was about the fourth watch of the night, he came to them walking on the sea and would have passed them by. Firstly, have you ever felt like God sent you into a storm? [00:04:07] See, because of our view of Christianity, sometimes, like, what did I do wrong? [00:04:11] I'm like, no, you did something right. You obeyed. [00:04:15] We just got sold that obedience will always be easy. [00:04:19] What I love about this is Jesus is on the mountain, praying, watching them struggle in the storm he sent them into. [00:04:26] That's fascinating. He's on the mountain. Thank you, Lord. My disciples, they're struggling. Thank you, Lord. I love you. [00:04:32] They're still struggling. [00:04:36] He sends them in and then the verse, the first verse that stood out. Maybe I can invite you into this question. [00:04:44] He came to them walking on the sea and would have passed by them. [00:04:49] He walked to them to walk by them. [00:04:55] None of the other gospels include this part. Matthew doesn't. Luke, does he walk to them, to walk by them. So a huge lake. He's like, I'm going to take a route where they see me. But I'm not actually coming to them. [00:05:06] I'm coming to pass by them. [00:05:09] He walks to them, to walk by them. [00:05:14] Why in the world would he do that? [00:05:17] Why not walk around them or walk to them? [00:05:21] But it specifically says, Mark specifically says, which is inspired by God. Jesus walked to them to walk by them. [00:05:34] And when he saw. When they saw him walking on the Sea. They supposed it was a ghost and cried out for they all saw him and were troubled. But immediately he talked to them and said, be of good cheer. It's I do not be afraid. [00:05:50] Firstly. Well, I've said firstly four times. So fourthly, I this is not the primary point of the passage, but I think one of the side points here is that it shows the love of Jesus, that he goes where he's wanted. [00:06:08] I'm reminded of the road to Emmaus in at the end of Luke where he indicates he would have gone further, like, hey guys, I'm going to keep going. [00:06:17] And they're like, could you stay the night? He's like, absolutely. [00:06:21] So this shows the heart of God where he abides with those who want him. I don't think that's the primary point of what's happening here, but I do think that shows the nature of God that he's kind enough to. His game plan was to walk by them, yet he stops to be with them. [00:06:35] Then he went up to the boat and the wind ceased. And they were amazed in themselves beyond measure and marveled. You would think that's amazing, right? [00:06:43] For they had not understood the loaves because their heart was hardened. [00:06:52] They're like, jesus, that was amazing. [00:06:56] You walked on water. [00:06:59] That's incredible. And God's like, the reason you're saying that is because you have a hard heart. [00:07:06] That makes no sense to me at face value. [00:07:09] Wouldn't that mean your heart soft that you're receiving the miracle of what Jesus is doing? Like, Jesus, that's incredible. You walked on water. [00:07:16] But the scripture clearly says inspired by God. The reason they're amazed and are marveling is because they have a hard heart because they missed the loaves. [00:07:25] And you're like, what do loaves have to do with water and the wind and the ocean? [00:07:30] Are you with me? Do you have the same questions I have here? [00:07:33] So firstly, he's walking out to them. And I propose to to you that actually their response to him walking on the water of them saying, hey, is this a ghost? I propose that it was actually meant to be a whole other story here. So now let's jump back a second and I'll show you what I'm meaning. So turn or we'll throw it up on the screen. Job, chapter nine, verse eight. [00:07:58] Job, chapter nine, verse 8. [00:08:02] Here's what it says. He alone spreads out the heavens and treads on the waves of the sea. [00:08:10] He alone spreads out the heavens and treads on the waves of the sea. So this moment that Jesus is walking in has been prophesied for generations. And it's actually becoming a fulfillment of prophecy. [00:08:22] And that language of he passed them by. Does anyone's mind go anywhere for that thought? He passed them by. Talking about God, your mind should go to Exodus 33, verse 22, where it says, he put him in the cleft of the rock so that he could pass them by. We call it a theophany, where the glory of God would be revealed to humanity, the deity of God revealed to humanity. So the very same language in Exodus where he goes, he put him in the cliff to pass him by is the very same language that Mark's using. So what was actually meant to be happening is the disciples are struggling and they walk by and they go, that's incredible. It's God. [00:09:04] It's the one from Exodus who's passing aside. It's the one who Job prophesied about. [00:09:10] It's the one we've been waiting for for years. This is God. How do I know it's him? Because he just multiplied loaves and he just multiplied fish. It's him. [00:09:19] He was never meant to come to the boat. It was meant to be the prophecies coming. It's him. He is the one that passed by the rock. [00:09:27] He's the one that we've been waiting for for all this time. But have you ever been with people that missed the moment, the theophany? Thousands of years waiting, here he is. And they're like. [00:09:37] He's like, they're gonna get it. They're like, it's a ghost. [00:09:42] I'm like, bro, you just missed it. [00:09:46] You just missed the moment. [00:09:49] You out here, it's a ghost. That's Jesus Christ, the one we've been longing for for thousands of years, and you missed it. Why not? Because. Not because you were distracted, because you had a hard heart. [00:10:04] So this moment where Jesus shows up, they miss what he's doing. And I propose to you because Mark has a different take to the other gospels. Matthew's like, and Peter walked on water. [00:10:14] Mark misses it all. He takes it all out. Because I would propose to you that Peter walking on water is a sign of the unbelief they had. [00:10:22] What does Peter say if you are the Christ? Like, if it's you, call me out, Would you still think Christ can't walk on water? [00:10:32] And I get it. He gets out of the boat, which is faith. Then he looks back at the waves and starts to sink. It's the same story. Mark just isn't including it because he has a Very different perspective of what went down that day. [00:10:46] Because what was the point of the loaves and the fish? [00:10:49] Hey, I am the God of every element, no matter what you come against. [00:10:57] So their hard hearts go, wait, he can't walk a war. There must be a ghost. Why? Because they missed the miracle that went before them. [00:11:05] And then Peter goes, if you are the Christ, call me out. Peter's walking, walking, walking. He looks back at the elements and falls because he forgets this is the God of the elements. [00:11:15] His revelation of Jesus wasn't received because every. Okay, I'm getting ahead of myself. [00:11:26] So they go, okay, your heart is hard. So here's. [00:11:30] Here's the crux of the question, the crux of the message. [00:11:38] When God wants to form something in you and I, which is always Christ, that's what he forms in every one of us is Christ likeness. [00:11:48] How much of it is on him and how much of it is on us? [00:11:54] So I think often we would be like, it's all him, it's all him. It's like, how's that game plan working for you? [00:12:03] Oh, it was his fault that they missed the loaves. [00:12:08] The Scripture says their hearts were hard. [00:12:11] She's saying something was to be revealed in that passage that. That they missed. [00:12:17] Okay, now, you with me. Turn with me to John Chapter one. We're going to go on a journey. That was my introduction. [00:12:23] Have I earned the next 22 minutes of your time? [00:12:26] Good. Okay, I'm preaching either way, but we're going to read four verses here. Some of you have heard my message that I preach on the logic of God. I'm not going to go into it. I'll give us a quick overview. But here in John chapter one, which we should all know, these verses, they're foundational to the Christian faith. [00:12:44] John 1, verse 1. In the beginning was the Word. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. [00:12:52] He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him, nothing was made that was made. [00:12:59] Jump down to verse 14. [00:13:01] The word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and. And truth. Now, the Word. Word here is the word Logos, which is where you and I get the word logic from. [00:13:18] The best description of what the Logos is, is not the written word of God or the spoken word of God. Logos is the divine reason of God. [00:13:27] It's the logic of God. Meaning, because how do you create something without logic? It's the very Reason humanity was made and how humanity was made. And everything that was made was made through Him. So whenever you see the Word and its Logos, we should point straight back to Christ because He is the living Word of God. That means the Logos is the revelation of Jesus. [00:13:48] Are you with me? [00:13:49] The Word became flesh. So his logic, how he thinks, took on a body. That's why you and I learn how God thinks from the life of Jesus. [00:13:59] We learn how God interacts with humanity from the life of Jesus. Jesus wasn't created when he was born. He took on flesh. And but through him all things were made. [00:14:09] He's always been there. [00:14:11] And nothing was made that was made outside of Him. It was all made through Him. Because how do you create without your logic? [00:14:18] Have I lost you or are you with me? So he's the logic here. Okay, so He. He's the Word here. And the Word becomes flesh and dwells among us. And that's why when you study the Scriptures, I pray you wouldn't just look at what Jesus said, but what he did. [00:14:34] Because if God's logic is to spend time in prayer, that probably means it's the best decision. [00:14:38] Jesus doesn't have to say, hey, you should wake up early and have a prayer life for me to study his life and wake up early and have a prayer life. [00:14:47] He's the logic of God in the flesh. You want to learn how God would do life? Study the life of Jesus. [00:14:57] Okay, now turn with me to Mark, chapter four. [00:15:04] Mark, chapter four. [00:15:06] It's in the New Testament. [00:15:11] Mark chapter four. [00:15:13] It's the parable of the seed and the sower. [00:15:17] It should be called the parable of the soil, but you'll see why I say that in a second. So firstly, Jesus teaches it, and then in verse 10, he says, but when he was alone, those around him with the 12 asked him about the parable, and he explains it. [00:15:36] Jesus explains the mysteries of Christ to those who spend time alone with Him. [00:15:47] He still does this to this day. [00:15:50] You can come here and receive, but there are certain mysteries you will never experience until you alone with Him. And when you're alone with him, he will begin to teach you those things. That's why in verse 33, it says, with many parables he spoke the word to them and they were able to hear. But without a parable, he did not speak. [00:16:08] And when they were alone, he explained all these things to the disciples. [00:16:13] God's a relational God. He hides his mysteries for those who are willing to spend time with them. And he will teach those what it Means the same as the Scripture. You open the Bible, but he has to open the Scriptures. [00:16:28] This is not Logos until the Holy Spirit opens it. [00:16:35] Okay, so then he goes on. In verse 13, he said this. Do you not understand this parable? How then will you understand all the parables? [00:16:44] So can we agree this is a pretty important parable? [00:16:47] He goes like, how I teach and how I develop myself in you is all explained through this one parable. [00:16:57] The sower sows the Word. [00:17:00] The sower sows the Word. So who's the sower here? It's Jesus himself is the sower. [00:17:05] And what's the Word? The Word is Logos. So he's the sower and he's the seed. [00:17:13] And these are the ones that are by the wayside where the Word is sown. When they hear, Satan comes immediately and takes away the Word that was sown in their hearts. [00:17:25] So on the first soil, the sower sows the seed on hard ground, and immediately Satan steals that. [00:17:33] That's a place where we aren't walking with a tender heart to the Holy Spirit. Now, often our minds are are so depraved and so void of God that there isn't even time for that root to take place. [00:17:45] That's a dangerous place to be. [00:17:51] Likewise are the ones sown on stony ground. When they hear the Word, immediately they receive it with gladness, and they have no root in themselves and so endure only for a time afterward. When tribulation or persecution arises for the Word's sake, immediately they stumble. [00:18:15] Immediately they stumble because of persecution. Tribulation. People will be like Dylan, why do you preach on suffering and tribulation so much? [00:18:24] Because I want Christ to be formed in you. [00:18:27] I care about you. [00:18:31] If we don't understand how tribulation and persecution exists or works in the Christian life, it will keep inhibiting what God wants to do in your life. [00:18:40] The disciples, I bet they were so excited when they left the ocean. Because Jesus had just multiplied the bread and the fish. And then what happened? [00:18:48] Wind came, waves came, and suddenly they were fearful. [00:18:56] Suddenly the seed that was implanted in them through the miracle of the bread and the loaves were forgotten about. Why? Because some hardship came. [00:19:05] And suddenly they forgot that I serve a God who calms the seas. I serve a God who made the seas. I serve a God that just multiplied the bread and the fish. Why would I care about this? [00:19:18] But because their heart isn't soft, the moment tribulation comes, they forget what just took place. [00:19:24] See, the point is, when Jesus does a miracle in our life, when he shows up in our life and the Holy Spirit breathes on it, that's meant to lead us to a revelation of who he is. [00:19:38] Turn with me to Mark, chapter eight, Verse 13. [00:19:51] And he left them and getting to the boat again departed to the other side. Now, disciples had forgotten to take bread. It's like, bro, how do you do this three times in a row? [00:19:59] Like, just learn to take bread. [00:20:02] They got it with one loaf. And he said to them, take heed. Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod, which is talking about unbelief as well as political power. [00:20:13] And they reason among themselves, saying, is it because we have no bread? [00:20:18] And he says, why do you reason you have no bread? Have you not yet perceived nor understand? [00:20:25] Is your heart still hardened? I'll answer that for you. Yes. [00:20:29] Wait, he's multiplied bread two or three times. And you still worried about not having enough bread because you thought it was about the loaves. [00:20:39] You thought it was about meeting your needs at one time. Can I tell you what this looks like? This is what this looks like. [00:20:45] God provided for my rent last month, but I'm still worried about next month. [00:20:50] Why? Oh, you missed that he's the provider. [00:20:54] You thought it was about rent being paid. You missed his nature. [00:20:59] Can I tell you what is this like? God heals someone and you surprised he heals next time. Wait, you heal? [00:21:05] That was meant to be a seed to a revelation of who he is. [00:21:10] It was never about the once or of healing. Every healing I see. I'm thankful and grateful and overwhelmed. God, you are so good. Am I surprised that he has the ability to heal? [00:21:20] That would show the hardness of my heart. [00:21:25] God, if you want to heal, if. [00:21:28] Have you not read who he is and what he does? If God, if you want to provide. What do you mean if? Why would he do it last month and stop this month? [00:21:37] And then we begin to worry about things. [00:21:40] See, the loaves and the fish were meant to be a revelation of who he is. So when they face the waves, they're like, oh, no. The one who I serve, the waves obey. [00:21:51] See, that last seed was meant to walk them through what God was calling them to. The revelation of what he was doing here was meant to empower them and form them into what God was calling them to do. [00:22:05] Every time God shows up in a miracle or a sign or wonder or a Bible verse or worship or corporately or prophetic word, when the Holy Spirit breathes on that, it becomes the Logos, the word of God, the revelation of who he is. [00:22:20] But my prayer is that it would find good soil. [00:22:26] I've got a word for us this morning. [00:22:28] The seed is never the problem in this parable. There's no such thing as bad seed. [00:22:40] How can he sow bad seed if he's the seed, right? And we're like, well, God, if you wouldn't. I'm like, no, no. How's the soil of your heart? [00:22:53] See, we have excuses that, like, the early church didn't really have. [00:22:58] Like, hey, God, I sinned because I had a sleepless night. [00:23:01] You know that if you read, I think it's in Ephesians, the call of a minister. One of the requirements is sleeplessness. [00:23:10] That's not for today, but it's in there. [00:23:15] The Scriptures are like, hey, your brethren have resisted to bloodshed. [00:23:21] We're like, hey, God, I couldn't sleep for three hours, so I'm good, right? I can sin. [00:23:26] See, hardship's going to come and it's beautiful. But if we don't understand that, we're going to keep prohibiting what God wants to form in our life. What God wants to form in my life, I want to allow roots to go down. [00:23:42] Then he goes on to say, and I feel like in some ways there's a level of progression here. When you first come to Lord, it's like Satan just stealing stuff and you're, okay, I'm done. Then it's like tribulation. But can I tell you this next soil. [00:23:56] Let me go back to the soil, back to Mark, chapter four, the last soil. [00:24:07] Now, these are the ones sown among the thorns. They are the ones who hear the Word and the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches and the desire of other things. Enter in the Word and choke it up, and it becomes unfruitful. [00:24:24] Enter in, choke the Word and it becomes unfruitful. [00:24:29] See, I feel like the other ones are more obvious. Like, hey, God's going to sow something. Satan's going to try to take it. [00:24:35] You're like, makes sense. [00:24:38] Then he's like, hey, God's going to sow something and hardship's going to come. You're like, makes sense. [00:24:43] This one is like, the cares of this world, like me worrying about things I shouldn't worry about are going to prohibit what God wants to form in me. [00:25:00] That's why the Bible says in Proverbs 4, 23, Watch over your heart, for out of it flow all the issues of this life. [00:25:07] All the issues flow out of our heart. And people are like, don't judge my words. The Bible also says out of your heart, the mouth speaks. [00:25:16] Like your words judge your heart. [00:25:20] If you have critical words, you have a critical heart. [00:25:24] That shouldn't be a hot take. [00:25:27] It's like just the Bible. What's here comes out. [00:25:32] So like the cares of this world. [00:25:35] You mean if I. So I think one of the most challenging verses to me is 2nd Timothy 2, verse 4. It says, no one engaged in warfare entangles in things and the things of this life that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier. [00:25:52] If you go to war and someone's shooting at you, you don't really have time to like check your Instagram, worry about next month's bills, relational issues. I wonder what I'm going to do to this person. You just get shot. [00:26:08] So the problem is that we have a spiritual battle. So we forget we're in a battle every day. [00:26:15] The enemy would love for you to worry about all those things because what's it doing? It's going to snuff out what God's trying to do. It's like, oh, I can't get you in sin, but what about worry? [00:26:25] I would love to have you in worry. [00:26:27] Christ is trying to be formed in you and these thorns are pushing down the things. The next one, the deceitfulness of riches. [00:26:36] People are like, oh, he's preaching against something. That's just the verse like, you got to riches are okay. The deceitfulness of riches are not. [00:26:46] The pursuit of riches will stop what God wants to do in your life. [00:26:52] Can we get quite specific for a second? You should ask yourself why you wake up and work so hard every day. [00:27:01] I hope you work hard. [00:27:03] I just hope we have a reason why that's congruent with Scripture. [00:27:11] This is where I think one of the verses and one of my prayers in life is I don't want to get to the end of my life. And the sum of my Life is a 2 inch signature at the bottom of a will. [00:27:23] Is that what life really is? [00:27:26] Is that what I'm called to? And I think that's where Ecclesiastes writes this so beautifully. In chapter 2, verse 11. [00:27:33] He had it all. Whatever my eyes desired, I did not keep from them. [00:27:38] I did not withhold my heart from any pleasure. [00:27:41] The world would say, that's a good game plan. It's a terrible game plan. [00:27:45] That's called bondage. [00:27:47] What the world calls freedom, we call bondage. [00:27:51] Doing whatever you desire is called bondage. [00:27:54] Crucifying the flesh is called freedom. [00:27:58] We can Never let that humanistic thinking come and do whatever you desire. No, don't do what you desire. Do what he desires. [00:28:09] For my heart rejoiced in all my labor. And this was my reward from my labor. Then I looked on all the works that my hands had done and the labour which I had taught. And indeed all was vanity and was grasping for the wind. [00:28:22] I don't want to get to the end of my days and realize everything I was chasing was grasping the wind. [00:28:29] Get to my deathbed and realize I was pursuing nothing. All this time, nothing mattered that I was pursuing. [00:28:39] What is success to us? [00:28:41] Hopefully it's that seed forming Christ in us. [00:28:46] Hopefully it's becoming more Christ. Like, I've said this before, but often I'll talk to people that spend time alone or go on a silent retreat and they come out. I'm like, let me guess what came up. What came up was you think you're behind. [00:29:00] They're like, how do you know? I'm like, because that's society for us. [00:29:03] But let me guess, you were behind with everything material. [00:29:09] They go, yeah, yeah. I'm like, I've never had anyone come on sale behind. I'm like, behind in what? Kindness, love, patience, joy, longsuffering, self control. Because it shows the idols of our heart. [00:29:23] I'm not comparing how loving you are. I'm comparing what I see in the parking lot, comparing the house, the relationships, the finances. Why? Because that's the idols coming up in my heart. [00:29:34] What if we became people like, I want to be more loving like them. [00:29:37] I want to be more kind. That's what's actually going to matter. [00:29:42] Sort of 2 inch signature in the bottom of a wheel that's chasing the wind. [00:29:47] Christ likeness. What if you left a legacy of love? [00:29:51] Legacy of love. That could be a book. [00:29:55] As long as I get the credit. Okay. [00:30:02] And then lastly it says, I love this one. It says, the deceitfulness of riches and the desire of other things. [00:30:10] It's like not even specific. [00:30:13] That's so broad. Like the last thing, choking stuff up. Desire of other things that should do something in our hearts. Where we go, God, I don't want to desire anything else more than you. [00:30:26] I think we often desire other things because we've missed the revelation of who he is. [00:30:31] I think it's hard for us to trust that if I just desire him, he's good enough to give me the things I desire. [00:30:39] That's where Psalm says, delight yourself to the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart. [00:30:45] The problem is that when your delight isn't in him, you have a lot of desires that weren't from him either. [00:30:51] When your delight isn't in him, you have a lot of desires that were never from him. Because you're grasping at things to satisfy. [00:30:58] It's hard to say, God, I'm just going to pursue you and trust you're good enough. [00:31:05] You're good enough to give me what you promised me. [00:31:10] Can we just trust him? [00:31:13] What's unique about the last soil to me is all the other soils are things from the outside. [00:31:18] The last soil is, what have I allowed to grow in my garden? [00:31:23] It's a whole different game plan. Satan's not coming in. Tribulation is not coming in. I've made space for things in my heart. I've created space for things to grow. They are now choking out what God wants to do. [00:31:39] They got in there because I allowed them. I maybe even created good soil for them and I protected them. [00:31:45] And today is the day where it's like, no, no, I'm digging up some of these things because the next soil is the good soil that produces 30, 60, 90 fold, which of course, like, how do you produce the good soil? Well, firstly, by not living in one of the three other soils. [00:32:02] Right? Like, that's step one. [00:32:05] But I felt like this morning there was people that are that are living, including myself, in that third soil where there's some things in our own garden we've allowed to come in and prohibit what God wants to do in our life where he's trying to sow good seed, or you come into service and you're like, my life's going to be changed forever. [00:32:25] Was it changed forever? [00:32:28] I'm not saying when you got saved. I'm saying when you feel him sow that seed and you go, thank you, God. [00:32:35] Have you been there before? You feel that, but so often, three days later, nothing changed. [00:32:41] I'm just being real. [00:32:42] We've been there so many times. I'm not condemning. [00:32:45] I'm like, everything's gonna change. [00:32:49] And then I realized, man, I can't come in once a week and try to muster up good soil. [00:32:55] I can't come in and go, I've got good soil. [00:32:59] This morning. I had the cares and deceitfulness of riches and desire of other things. But now, God, he has a pocket for you. [00:33:07] I saved a corner for you, God, I saved a pot for you. It's like, no, no, that's all going into the same soil. [00:33:15] And there's other things. Throughout the week, we'll snuff that out. Unless we learn how to deal with all of this. [00:33:22] And that's my desires. I don't want us to go through life in Christ. Go, hey, here I am. This is who I am. [00:33:28] And then I'm anxious again. [00:33:32] God, can you heal? Can you do this? I'm back in fear. I'm like, oh, it's because my heart's heart I missed. [00:33:40] Now God's good enough to be like, oh, you missed it. I'll come to your boat. [00:33:44] You missed it. Okay, I'm here. What's crazy is Peter might not have ever even meant to walk on water that day. [00:33:52] That's a pretty crazy thought. No, just me. [00:33:58] I want to have a soft heart. I want to catch what he's doing. [00:34:04] Now. Here's how we have a soft heart. We repent. [00:34:08] Repentance, when I was growing up, was such an intense word you stayed away from. [00:34:12] And now I'm like, it's the most freeing thing you can do. [00:34:16] We come to the end of ourselves. [00:34:18] God, I'm done. Stop starting. I'm done. My heart gets excited and I'm back where I was. [00:34:24] I want to become like Jesus. [00:34:27] I want. When he plants a seed in me, I want to give it space to grow and produce fruit. [00:34:34] I don't want to be bad soil. I don't think anyone wants to be bad soil. [00:34:39] But I think at times we unknowingly. [00:34:42] We unknowingly plant things in the garden of our heart that were never meant to be there. [00:34:49] Whether it's to sin, which hardens our heart, or even sometimes just ignorance, we just don't know. [00:34:56] We listen to a podcast, we hear some humanistic thinking, we let it in, and before we know it, we got things that are creeping in. [00:35:04] Can we stand this morning? [00:35:08] I just feel if no one can move for a moment. I just feel that there's an invitation this morning to pull some weeds out of the soil of our heart. [00:35:19] And that last one is not even sin. It's just things we've allowed to grow in our heart. [00:35:26] Do you feel yourself often stop starting? Do you feel yourself going into that thing? There is freedom this morning like we felt if we respond for the Holy Spirit to pull up some of those weeds to go, God, I've cared about the riches for a long time. Deliver me this morning. [00:35:44] That's all it is. Hey, God, I've cared about these other things for a long time. Would you set me free? God, I've cared about the things of this world. I've been worried, said God, I've missed your nature. [00:35:57] I'm not saying you can do it by yourself. I'm saying you can go low enough for him to do it. [00:36:04] You don't want him to be walking by and miss him. [00:36:07] It breaks my heart that I'm like, God, could you be doing things in my world that I'm missing because of the posture of my heart? [00:36:15] Could there be moments in my life where I'm like, look at what he's doing. [00:36:20] But instead I'm worried where he's walking by, he's wanting to do miracles, and I'm like, how am I going to figure this out? [00:36:30] He's like, oh, he missed it. I'll be back, but he missed it. [00:36:34] If that's you this morning, I just want to invite you to come and respond right now. [00:36:38] How many? Just come forward. Respond. [00:36:47] This is between you and the Lord. [00:36:49] Just respond. [00:36:53] Say, God, would you rip that thing out of my heart? [00:36:58] Can you trust him that he'll give it back to you if you were meant to have it? [00:37:03] Can you trust him this morning where you go, God, rip that desire, that idol, out of my heart? Lord, I trust you that if it's from you, you'll give it to me. [00:37:15] I feel like even there's some business owners in the room that control and are trying to figure out, can you trust God with it? [00:37:25] The cares of this world, The desire for other things. I would just be satisfied if I would just be happy if. [00:37:42] As if he's not enough. [00:37:52] Thank you, Holy Spirit. [00:37:54] Lord, would you take these things out of our heart? [00:37:58] Lord, we come low this morning knowing that only you can do it. Would you come? [00:38:02] The gardener that showed up at the tomb that day was you, Lord. Because you tend to the garden of our hearts, Lord. [00:38:09] You reveal yourself as a gardener to show that you will tend to the garden of our hearts, Lord, Would you remove any weeds in our heart or anything that is snuffing out what you want to do, Lord? [00:38:22] If the ministry team can begin to minister to those up front, I just want you to lay those things down at his feet. [00:38:31] Thank you, holy spirit. [00:38:39] Come, holy spirit. [00:38:46] I just see God strengthening those in tribulation and hardship right now, too. [00:38:51] Christ is being formed in you. [00:38:56] Thank you, Holy Spirit. Would you come near? [00:39:11] Thank you for joining Kingdom Movement Online. I pray and hope that that sermon impacted you deeply. I would love if you shared this with a few friends and family.
